Sinusitis

Find relief from chronic sinusitis with help from our expert allergists

Sinusitis is a condition characterized by swelling and inflammation within the sinus cavities. When this condition lasts for more than 8 weeks, it is considered chronic and may require the expertise of an allergist to treat. At Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology Medical Group, we have ample experience treating sinusitis along with risk factors such as nasal polypshay feverasthma, aspirin sensitivity, and immune deficiency disorders.

Diagnosis

In order to determine the root cause of your sinusitis, we may use a variety of different diagnostic tests. For example, we may get images of the sinus cavities by ordering a CAT scan, do a rhinoscopy to look inside the sinus cavity for signs of nasal polyps, perform allergy skin tests to check for allergies, or run an immune system workup to check for immune deficiency.

Treatment

You can rely on the professionals at Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology Medical Group to treat both the sinusitis symptoms and their underlying causes. We can recommend treatments like saline nasal irrigation to remove mucus or corticosteroids to reduce inflammation, and antibiotics if appropriate. We can also recommend allergy treatments to help prevent inflammation from recurring. If your sinusitis is caused by an anatomical problem with the shape of your sinuses, we may refer you to a surgeon who specializes in sinusitis.
