6 Different Ways to Treat Hives

6 Different Ways to Treat Hives

Hives can take on the form of small, red bumps, all the way to the size of plates on your skin. Nobody enjoys hives, and there are constantly streams of easy, at-home ways to treat your hives. We looked at the best ways that you can treat hives, and came up with six alternatives that you can try.

Cool Bath

Either apply a cold compress to the welts individually, or simply dip yourself into a cool bath. It doesn’t have to be blisteringly cold, so you should be able to enjoy your bath while still experiencing relief on your blisters. If you want to really step up the relief game, you can add some oatmeal (only colloidal) to the bathwater and let that soak in for at least 15 minutes.

Keep a Food Diary

The easiest way to treat hives is to find out what’s causing them, and stop ingesting whatever that may be. To figure out what causes your hives, keep a food diary of everything you eat, drink, and otherwise ingest. This includes medication and other supplements as well. This can be an easy way to see the connections that are resulting in you having a horrible itch.

Use Astringents

Shrink your blood vessels in order to rid yourself of hives that way by dabbing with hazel, calamine lotion, or another powerful astringent on the problem areas. You can also use Pepto-Bismol or milk of magnesia as a reliable alternative.

Acupuncture

As off the wall as it sounds, acupuncture has already been associated with relieving the itch of chronic hives. It’s also been proven that acupuncture can reduce stress, relieve worry, and provide a variety of other benefits that people genuinely enjoy.

Start Relaxing

While it’s easier to say than actually do, relieving stress can be the biggest thing that gets rid of your hives. Start incorporating progressive relaxation, yoga, or even meditation into your daily routine. Slowly reducing that stress will relieve some of the itchiness from the hives.
