You Don’t Have to Live with Sinusitis: Find Out How You Can Get Help

You Don’t Have to Live with Sinusitis: Find Out How You Can Get Help No one wants to live with sinusitis, yet people across the country do so every day. In some cases, their doctors have misdiagnosed them, in other cases they may not have found a treatment that works. We find that many patients are also willing to wait a long time before it gets bad enough to seek help. At Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Medical Group we don’t want you to suffer anymore. If you have sinusitis and it won’t seem to go away or get better, then it’s time to call us at 805-658-9500.

What exactly is chronic sinusitis?

Medically speaking, sinusitis becomes chronic when it lasts more than eight weeks. When it gets to that point, then it’s likely you need an allergy to help. Sinusitis itself happens when the sinus cavities are swollen and / or inflamed. We have years of experience treating this and other conditions and can even help patients who have other issues, including immune deficiency disorders, nasal polyps, sensitivity to aspirin, hay fever, and asthma.

Diagnosis

In order to determine the root cause of your sinusitis, we may use a variety of different diagnostic tests. For example, we may get images of the sinus cavities by ordering a CAT scan, do a rhinoscopy to look inside the sinus cavity for signs of nasal polyps, perform allergy skin tests to check for allergies, or run an immune system workup to check for immune deficiency.

Treatment

You can rely on the professionals at Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology Medical Group to treat both the sinusitis symptoms and their underlying causes. We can recommend treatments like saline nasal irrigation to remove mucus or corticosteroids to reduce inflammation, and antibiotics if appropriate. We can also recommend allergy treatments to help prevent inflammation from recurring. If your sinusitis is caused by an anatomical problem with the shape of your sinuses, we may refer you to a surgeon who specializes in sinusitis.
