The first thing to understand about working with Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Medical Group is that we know how limiting asthma can be, but we also know that it does not always have to be that way. If you can find the right medications to control it, and the right treatment plan to follow, you can enjoy life much more freely. This could finally be the answer you have been looking for.

Learn How Fasenra Works

Fasenra treatment works to control asthma by lowering the number of specialized white blood cells in the blood. These are called eosinophils, and they trigger inflammation in your airway and lungs if there are too many of them. Fasenra has been shown in clinical trials to improve lung function and reduce severe asthma attacks by more than 50%. It can also help you lower your need for daily oral steroid medications.

The Treatment Process

When you get a Fasenra injection, you will come to our office and a doctor will administer it. Initially, you will have a treatment every four weeks. After you have had your third injection, you will continue to receive maintenance treatment every eight weeks. Note that you should continue to use the asthma medications you are currently using unless we tell you otherwise.

The Safety of Fasenra

The Food and Drug Administration has approved Fasenra for the treatment of severe asthma for those who are 12 years old or older. The largest-ever clinical trial program for targeted therapies specifically in eosinophilic asthma showed this treatment to be both safe and effective. As you would expect with any treatment, there are side effects. They can include headache and sore throat. Your asthma doctor will go over all the risks and what to look for.
